Arlene Zikes, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on July 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Born on May 28, 1941, Arlene devoted her life to her family, nurturing and supporting them with an unwavering kindness that was as bright as her spirit.
Having made Oak Forest her home for 38 years, Arlene embraced every moment spent with her loved ones. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished the time she spent with them. Arlene was a kind, loving person who brought light into the lives of everyone she met. Her warmth made her a cherished figure not just as a mother to her children, but as a grandmother and great-grandmother who filled the rooms with laughter and the fragrance of love.
Arlene is survived by her devoted daughter, Kathleen Hopkins, and son-in-law, John Hopkins; her son, Michael Zikes, along with his wife, Janet Zikes; and her beloved grandchildren, Michelle Maxwell and Chris Maxwell, who have been touched by her gentle spirit. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Miles, and Conor Maxwell, who fondly remember her as a source of joy and comfort.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. Zikes, and their daughter, Karen Zikes. Their memories are forever intertwined with the love and happiness Arlene provided throughout her life.
Arlene's visitation will be held on August 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McKenzie Funeral Home in Oak Forest, Illinois. It is a time for family and friends to gather, share stories, and celebrate the remarkable woman who enriched their lives in immeasurable ways. As we reflect on her life, we honor Arlene's legacy of kindness and love, which will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
