Born on April 6, 1946, in Harvey, Illinois, Walter grew up with a strong sense of community and a passion for connection. He was educated at Thornton High School in Harvey, where he began to cultivate the warm, welcoming personality that would define him for the rest of his life.
After completing his education, Walter honorably served as a Military Police Sergeant for two years, showcasing both his dedication and commitment to service. Upon returning, he became a pillar of the Markham community as he owned and operated a gas station, pouring his heart and soul into his work. His business was more than just a gas station; it was a gathering place where he treated every customer with kindness, ensuring that they felt at ease and welcomed. His quiet demeanor masked a depth of warmth that drew people in and made them feel valued.
Walter’s hobbies reflected his gentle spirit. He found joy in fishing, building model airplanes, and tending to his garden. These interests allowed him to connect with the natural world and provided a source of relaxation and happiness throughout his life. Many will remember him on peaceful days, lost in the joy of a fishing trip or the meticulous creation of his model airplanes.
Walter’s proudest accomplishments were symbolized by the numerous pins and awards he received from Home Depot, a testament to his diligence and excellence in all that he pursued. He took great pride in his work and in the impact he had on those around him.
He was the cherished husband of Joy Przybysz, a relationship that defined his later years. Together, they had a loving relationship with his son, Christopher Przybysz, and daughter-in-law, Ann Przybysz. The love shared within this family was profound, and Walter’s spirit of kindness and generosity will undoubtedly carry on through his loved ones.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sophie Przybysz, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion. Their legacy continues to live on through him and those he touched throughout his life.
A visitation in honor of Walter will be held on May 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McKenzie Funeral Home located at 15618 S Cicero Ave, Oak Forest, IL. All who knew Walter are invited to come share in the memories of a truly remarkable man whose quiet strength and generous spirit made an enduring impact on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
